This position serves as the Traffic Court Coordinator Supervisor within the County Criminal Division. This is a professional administrative, and supervisory position requiring comprehensive knowledge of the court system and established court management practices. The position provides essential administrative support for the daily operations and overall management of the County Criminal and Traffic Division.

The primary responsibilities include overseeing the daily operations of the Traffic Court Coordinator Unit. This includes preparing staff schedules to ensure that all Civil Traffic Infraction Courtrooms are appropriately staffed. Responsibilities also involve providing support to judges upon request and ensuring that new hires receive adequate training before being assigned to courtroom duties. This role supervises the Juror Transport Unit by confirming daily staffing, reviewing transportation logs, and ensuring timesheets are submitted accurately. This position must maintain familiarity with judicial and hearing officer calendars for weekly court sessions. 

Additional responsibilities include various administrative duties, such as reviewing and approving timesheets for unit personnel, assisting with special projects assigned by the Division Director, Assistant Director or Administrative Judges, and serving as back-up to the Civil Traffic Hearing Officer Liaison.

The position reports to the County Criminal Division Director (Senior Court Operations Consultant), and works independently, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.

  • Oversees the daily functions of the Traffic Court Coordinator (TCC) team, consisting of 12 staff members.
  • Assigns, supervises and evaluates work of TCCs, including those working remotely, through direct courtroom visits or by participation in virtual hearings. 
  • Ensures coverage for Senior Judges when other court specialists are unavailable.
  • Coordinates Civil Traffic Infraction Court scheduling needs with the Civil Traffic Hearing Officer Liaison, Calendar Administrator and Drive Legal Program Manager.
  • Prepares and distributes weekly digital TCC courtroom assignments and arranges coverages during staff absences. Provides staffing support to Human Resources Office when vendor court specialists are unavailable.
  • Attends virtual court proceedings as required.
  • Processes uniform requests for TCC personnel.
  • Organizes and facilitates monthly staff meetings.
  • Supervises the Juror Transport Unit, consisting of two staff members.
  • Assigns and reviews daily juror transport logs and responsibilities. 
  • Issues weekly schedules for Juror Transport Staff. 
  • Sends reminders to judiciary and staff regarding juror transport availability and distributes written procedures as needed.
  • Maintains monthly statistics and reviews daily juror transport entries for accuracy.
  • Reviews the Infraction Pending Report to determine the number of additional sessions required each week. 
  • Oversees weekly Civil Traffic Infraction caseload including Online Case Resolution (OCR) submissions .
  • Provides operational supporting SPIRIT to Judicial Assistants, Judges, and Traffic Hearing Officers, including assistance with login credentials.
  • Acts as back-up for the Assistant Director when needed, responding to requests from the judiciary or executive office.
  • Contributes to the preparation of narrative and statistical reports.
  • Reviews and approves payroll submitted for TCC and Juror Transport staff.
  • Troubleshoots SPIRIT issues and resolves operational problems arising during court proceedings, including Zoom. for the division regarding SPIRIT and court related issues that arise during proceedings, including Zoom for remote hearings.
  • Participates in special projects and collaborative initiates as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, psychology, criminology, social work, law, or a closely related field.
  • Four (4) years of related work experience.
    • A Juris Doctor degree may substitute for up to three (3) years of related work experience.
  • Two (2) years of supervisory experience.
  • Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.

  • Knowledge of laws, court rules, procedures and legal documents.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relations with the judiciary, court administration, other court personnel and thepublic.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally and through presentations.
  • Ability to make work decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and handle individuals who are under stress with courtesy, tact and patience.
  • Ability to supervise people.
  • Moderate noise; business office setting.

Physical Demands:

  • Work involves a significant amount of standing, walking, sitting, talking, listening, and reaching with hands and arms. Must be able to transfer up to 10 pounds.
