Our client, a privately held manufacturer serving highly regulated industries, is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to oversee accounting operations, strengthen financial controls, and deliver accurate financial reporting that supports strategic business decisions. This individual will lead the accounting team while partnering closely with operations and executive leadership to improve financial processes, enhance reporting, and drive organizational performance.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activity to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports.
- Oversee inventory, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, treasury, and tax-related accounting functions.
- Partner with operations, supply chain, sales, and executive leadership to provide financial analysis and actionable business insights.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls while ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and applicable regulations.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, external audits, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities.
- Manufacturing accounting experience, including cost accounting and inventory management.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, month-end close, and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across departments.
