Our client, a global private equity firm, is seeking an AI Platform Engineer to join their team in San Francisco, CA!
As AI Platform Engineer, you step into a greenfield environment with full ownership: design the platform, architect the infrastructure, establish governance, and run it.
Responsibilities
Build the Platform
- Design, architect, and deploy the firm's AI development environment — dev, UAT, and production-safe rollout infrastructure built from the ground up.
- Establish the DevOps foundation: CI/CD pipelines, environment governance, deployment workflows, and release management.
- Assess the firm's current Azure environment and architect it forward to support AI engineering at scale.
- Implement guardrails and governance frameworks that keep production secure while enabling AI experimentation.
Own Claude Code
- Serve as the firm's platform owner for Claude Code: managing access, environment configuration, and ongoing optimization.
- Establish and own the code review and approval process for all AI-assisted and vibe-coded work submitted by the broader team.
- Partner with the AI group as their primary infrastructure resource: translate their requirements into reliable, governed environments.
Enable AI Engineering Across the Firm
- Design, build, and deploy AI-enabled solutions tied to prioritized business use cases.
- Implement AI workflows, integrations, and automations across enterprise platforms including Microsoft 365, Box, and DealCloud; using tooling from Anthropic, OpenAI, and others.
- Translate architectural designs and business requirements into working AI solutions, including prompt engineering and orchestration logic.
- Integrate AI solutions with enterprise data sources, ensuring data quality, accuracy, and appropriate access controls.
Drive Governance & Operational Readiness
- Partner with Security, Privacy, and IT to ensure all AI solutions meet enterprise governance, risk, and compliance standards.
- Own operational readiness: monitoring, logging, performance tuning, and ongoing optimization.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and reusable implementation patterns.
- Serve as a key voice across IT, AI, cybersecurity, and vendor relationships including Anthropic and Microsoft.
Required Qualifications
- Proven platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure experience, with a track record of building environments, not just inheriting them.
- Deep Azure expertise: you've assessed, architected, and scaled Azure environments in demanding organizations.
- Real, hands-on experience with Claude Code or equivalent AI developer tooling; you know how these systems work from the inside.
- Strong CI/CD and SDLC knowledge: pipelines, environment management, release governance, and developer workflow design.
- The communication range to lead stakeholder meetings, drive alignment across technical and non-technical teams, and document everything clearly.
- A builder's disposition: you don't hand off roadmaps — you own what you design and stay to see it through.
Preferred Qualifications
- Security background or security-first thinking; comfort working alongside cyber and compliance teams.
- Financial services or private equity experience.
- Familiarity with enterprise platforms: Microsoft 365, Box, DealCloud.
- Experience designing SDLC processes that satisfy enterprise security and governance requirements.
