Position Summary
The Construction Materials Inspector plays a key role in ensuring that all materials used in Elevator Interiors projects meet company specifications, industry standards, and client requirements. This position is responsible for inspecting, testing, and documenting the quality and compliance of materials used in the fabrication and installation of elevator interiors, panels, finishes, and related components.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically skilled, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and performance throughout the construction and installation process.
Key Responsibilities
Material Inspection & Testing
Inspect incoming construction materials, including metals, laminates, glass, finishes, fasteners, and adhesives, to ensure compliance with design and quality specifications.
Conduct field inspections at job sites and manufacturing facilities to verify proper material use and installation practices.
Perform or coordinate tests for strength, composition, and compliance with applicable standards (ASTM, ANSI, ISO, etc.).
Quality Control & Documentation
Maintain detailed inspection records, test results, and compliance reports.
Identify, document, and report any nonconforming materials or workmanship.
Work closely with the Quality Control and Project Management teams to address material issues and implement corrective actions.
Compliance & Standards
Ensure all materials and processes comply with company standards, building codes, and safety regulations.
Stay current on changes to material standards, codes, and construction best practices.
Support continuous improvement initiatives in quality control procedures.
Coordination & Communication
Collaborate with purchasing, production, and installation teams to resolve material discrepancies and ensure timely replacements or corrections.
Communicate inspection findings clearly and professionally to internal teams and vendors.
Participate in pre-installation meetings to verify readiness of materials and site conditions.
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
3–5 years of experience in construction material inspection, quality control, or related roles.
Strong understanding of construction materials, fabrication methods, and testing standards.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong communication and documentation abilities.
Familiarity with quality assurance programs, inspection tools, and material testing procedures.
Certification in construction materials inspection or quality control (e.g., ACI, NICET, or ICC) is a plus.
