Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our team and support our organizational growth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to various HR functions, including Onboarding experience, employee relations, compliance administration, and HR Process change. As a vital member of our HR department, you will help foster a positive workplace environment, streamline HR processes, and ensure compliance with employment laws. This paid position provides valuable experience in human resources management and organizational development. The Schedule for this position is Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm with occasional weekend hours needed.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates new hire paperwork and background checks in accordance with DCF Standards through in-person “New Hire” meetings
- Collects I-9 documents and assist in completion of I-9 form, Section 1
- Completes Professional and Personal Reference checks for New Hires
- Runs initial and periodic background checks for Candidates/Employees including, but not limited to Local Law checks, National Sex Offender database, and Abuse & Neglect checks, Court Records, Driver License Checks, and Adam Walsh if applicable
- Helps keep Employee and HR records up to date, organized, and within compliance of DCF and EYS standards
- Assists with implementation of Annual Home Licensure Processes
- Regularly and consistently communicates with HR Manager, Compliance Manager, and Onsite Supervisors regarding Hiring progression and annual checks for new and current employees
- Utilizes Microsoft Teams, Outlook email, and other technology consistently to communicate and complete job duties
- Follows all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Operates ethically to protect the assets and image of the company.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by HR and Compliance Manager
Experience
- 1 Year of Human Resources or Administrative experience preferred
- HS Diploma/GED Required with additional post-secondary education preferred
- Experience with Onboarding of new candidates and collecting/proofreading necessary forms (Job applications, I-9, etc.)
- Must be able to pass a Level 2 background check, including a national fingerprint-based check, a criminal record search, and a public records search.
- Collaborative work style and ability to work effectively across departments.
- Effective and consistent Communicator with exceptional follow up skills
- Competent in record keeping, filing, and auditing of personnel records
- Ability to learn new processes, learn and use new technology, and navigate and adapt in an ever-changing business and compliance environment.
- Highly Organized and strong attention-to-detail a MUST
- Must possess excellent oral, written, presentation, and listening skills in the English language.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint)
- Proficient and accurate in typing and general data entry.
- Excellent Time management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to maintain confidentiality while managing employee information daily
- Ability to maintain a consistent, but flexible schedule available to meet the business demands of EYS
- Experience working with Department of Children and Families, and familiarity with their standards and procedures a Plus
- Licensed as a Notary a Plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely, and successfully within ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards of the company.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.; ability to stand for prolong periods of time and climb steps regularly.
- Ability to physically maneuver through work areas; bend, lift, carry, reach/extend arms, and hands above shoulder height frequently, or otherwise move in a constantly changing environment.
Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
