We're growing, and we're looking for a detail-oriented tax professional who takes ownership of their work and genuinely enjoys helping clients navigate their tax obligations with confidence.
Position Summary
As a Tax Associate, you'll prepare and review tax returns for a diverse portfolio of individual and business clients, while helping identify planning opportunities that support their long-term financial goals. You'll be a trusted resource for clients navigating tax questions, deadlines, and filings. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, stays current on tax law, and takes pride in accurate, well-researched work.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corps, C-corps, and other entity types
- Research tax issues and stay current on changes in tax law and regulations
- Assist with quarterly and year-end tax planning for clients
- Prepare estimated tax payments and extensions
- Respond to IRS and state tax agency notices and inquiries on behalf of clients
- Communicate proactively with clients about their tax situations, documentation needs, and deadlines
- Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure bookkeeping and tax records are aligned
- Identify tax-saving strategies and planning opportunities for clients
- Maintain organized, accurate, and well-documented client tax files
- Support the team during tax season with flexibility around workload and hours
What We're Looking For
Required
- Tax preparation experience
- Proficiency with professional tax preparation software
- Strong understanding of individual and business tax law and filing requirements
- Experience preparing multiple return types (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065)
- Proactive, self-directed approach—you take initiative rather than waiting to be told
- Excellent client-service skills and clear, professional communication
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously, especially during peak season
Preferred (nice to have)
- CPA, EA, or actively pursuing licensure
- Experience in a public accounting or multi-client firm environment
- Familiarity with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)
- Experience with multi-state tax returns
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience serving clients across multiple industries
