Position Summary
As an Accounting Associate / Accounting Manager, you'll manage the full cycle of general accounting and bookkeeping for a diverse portfolio of clients. You'll be a trusted point of contact—keeping the books clean, month-to-month processes running smoothly, and clients informed. This role is ideal for someone who works independently, anticipates needs before being asked, and takes pride in accurate, well-organized financials.
What You'll Do
- Categorize income and expense transactions accurately and consistently across multiple client accounts
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit card statements on a regular basis
- Process accounts payable, ensuring bills are recorded and paid accurately and on time
- Run payroll for clients, including related filings and record-keeping
- Prepare month-end close activities and maintain clean, up-to-date general ledgers
- Respond to ad hoc client requests promptly and professionally
- Communicate proactively with clients about their financials, questions, and deadlines
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and flag issues before they become problems
What We're Looking For
Required
- Minimum 3 years of hands-on accounting or bookkeeping experience
- Proficiency with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and the full bookkeeping cycle
- Experience with bank/credit card reconciliations, AP, and payroll processing
- Proactive, self-directed approach—you take initiative rather than waiting to be told
- Excellent client-service skills and clear, professional communication
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred (nice to have)
- Experience in a public accounting or multi-client firm environment
- Familiarity with payroll platforms (e.g., Gusto, ADP)
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Experience serving clients across multiple industries
