Duties
- Operate heavy machinery including dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, bucket trucks, and bucket operation equipment to excavate trenches and install underground utilities.
- Conduct utility locating using specialized tools to identify existing underground cables and pipes before excavation.
- Perform cable splicing for fiber optic and electrical lines with precision to ensure optimal connectivity and safety standards.
- Use hand tools and power tools for digging, trenching, welding, and assembling utility components on construction sites.
- Assist with rigging tasks to safely lift and position heavy equipment or materials during installation or repair activities.
- Execute low voltage electrical work following safety protocols to ensure reliable power distribution.
- Maintain mechanical knowledge of equipment operation and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- May occasionally travel out of state for work.
Requirements
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment including dozers, excavators, loaders, backhoes, bucket trucks, and other construction machinery.
- Strong knowledge of utility locating techniques and the use of related tools for accurate identification of underground lines.
- Hands-on experience with fiber splicing, cabling, welding, and electrical systems.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing structures, digging trenches with hand tools or power tools, and lifting heavy materials safely.
- Mechanical aptitude with familiarity in rigging procedures and equipment maintenance.
- Construction site experience demonstrating adherence to safety standards in dynamic environments.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and ensure project safety and efficiency.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
