A partner firm of Elevate located in Tarrytown, Westchester County, New York, is seeking an experienced Tax Senior or Tax Supervisor to join its growing team. This is a generalist tax preparation and review role, and it is ideal for a tax professional with 3-5 years of public accounting experience who has strong real estate partnership experience and enjoys working with a diverse client base. This is an in-office position at the firm’s Tarrytown location. The successful candidate will prepare and review returns, assist with tax compliance and planning support, communicate with clients, and handle year-round tax-related projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for:
• Individuals (Form 1040)
• Partnerships (Form 1065), with an emphasis on real estate partnerships
• S-Corporations (Form 1120-S)
• C-Corporations (Form 1120)
• Trusts and Estates (preferred)
• Prepare and review real estate partnership returns, including K-1 allocations, partner capital and basis tracking, and rental real estate reporting (such as Form 8825).
• Review returns and workpapers prepared by staff and provide feedback.
• Prepare tax workpapers and supporting documentation.
• Analyze financial statements, general ledgers, and client records to ensure accurate tax reporting.
• Research tax issues and assist with resolving tax notices and compliance matters.
• Communicate directly with clients to gather information and address tax-related questions.
• Assist with tax planning projects and special engagements.
• Maintain current knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
• Collaborate with firm leadership and team members to meet deadlines during busy seasons.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3-5 years of public accounting tax experience.
• Working knowledge of Forms 1040, 1065, and 1120-S, with experience both preparing and reviewing returns.
• Strong real estate partnership tax experience (key requirement).
• Ability to work in person at the Tarrytown office. This is not a hybrid role.
• Strong understanding of federal and state tax compliance.
• Proficiency with tax preparation software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements and meet deadlines.

Preferred

• CPA license or active CPA candidate preferred.
• Experience with multi-state tax filings.
• Experience working with real estate investors, closely held businesses, and high-net-worth individuals.
• Exposure to tax planning and consulting engagements.
