Legal Specialist II

Location: This role requires associates to be in-office 1 - 2 days per week, fostering collaboration and connectivity, while providing flexibility to support productivity and work-life balance. This approach combines structured office engagement with the autonomy of virtual work, promoting a dynamic and adaptable workplace. Alternate locations may be considered if candidates reside within a commuting distance from an office.

The Legal Specialist II will be responsible for providing legal support and research services for the Clinical, Provider and Regulatory business counseling legal teams. Legal assignments and projects will involve multiple states, enterprise-wide functions and/or complex topics such as utilization management, artificial intelligence, mental health parity, cost of care initiatives and federal and state regulatory analysis.

How you will make an impact:

  • Serves as a resource and may lead and/or coach other support staff.
  • Conducts complex legal research and analysis then recommends the appropriate course of action/next steps.
  • Monitors state and federal legislation affecting Clinical, Provider and Regulatory clients and initiatives.
  • Develops and/or implements recommendations relative to changes in regulations and laws.
  • Applies business knowledge and technical expertise to optimize solutions and improve practices.
  • Participates in projects and may participate in strategy sessions with business and staff.
  • Enters information and research into appropriate databases or other document management systems (e.g., Smartsheet).
  • Supports contract negotiations and amendments.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a High School diploma or equivalent and a Paralegal Certification or an AA/AS/BA/BS in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of legal or related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences:

  • Excellent research skills preferred.
  • Exposure to clinical/provider issues and business processes preferred.
  • Proficiency with LexisNexis and AI-based research tools is preferred.
  • Exposure to Smartsheet and SharePoint site development is a plus.
  • Attorneys with 0-5 years of experience may be considered.

For candidates working in person or virtually in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $72,902 to $125,000.
