General Description
The Elementary Lead Teacher must be a certified teacher who will assist and support the building Principal, Assistant Principal (if applicable), and Curriculum Directors in many aspects of school operations. Along with the building Principal/Assistant Principal, Elementary Lead Teachers will be the expert on current curriculum and instruction in the district. The Elementary Lead Teacher will attend all FCI meetings throughout the year. The Elementary Lead Teacher will provide general oversight of the operation of the school in the absence or at the request of the Principal.
Qualifications
- MA certification as an elementary teacher with MA DESE
- Expertise with Google Drive, Classroom, Docs, Slides, and Sheets.
- Confidence in leading professional development and meetings to review student work
Duties
- Support the management of student discipline (incident response, communication with parents, detention and/or behavior reports)
- Managing inventory, ordering, and distributing school supplies
- Planning of school events (RAISE, assemblies, and PTO)
- Serving as a liaison for communication between staff and Principal.
- Attend monthly meetings with FCI’s on Tuesdays, in person at central office from 3:30-4:30
- Participate in a 2-hour summer professional development planning in August
- Work with building administrators and directors to facilitate professional development time
- Facilitate meetings or support Directors/Principal with facilitation
- Facilitate building-based collaborative inquiry cohorts (This could include: Eureka Squared Module unpacking, Wit & Wisdom Module unpacking, Math implementation support, Science MCAS updates)
- Facilitate the interpretation of data for curriculum and instructional decisions and student intervention. (Example: Looking at student work (FQT) protocol, Data dashboard teacher sheet)
- Assist with communication within the school about scope and sequence, common assessment, and other curriculum information throughout the year.
