What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Library Media Assistant position at Elementary School?
THIS IS A CONTINUING POSITION FOR THE 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR.
Note: This position is open to qualified CERSD employees from June 1 - June 8, 2026. Online applications from out of district applicants will not be considered until June 9th. Applications will be reviewed as submitted. The position is open until filled.
Accountability: Accountable to the building principal
Areas of Responsibility:
- Work closely with the principal in carrying out individual library, literacy, media/technology, and visual arts objectives

Help students learn to use technology in targeted areas such as keyboarding, basic computer literacy and component usage, digital citizenship, and familiarity with some integrated math and literacy programs (i.e. IXL, etc.)
- Work with students in creating visual and media arts (i.e. BAM).
- Use library media to develop student awareness and ability to access, navigate, and assimilate expository and narrative text
- Help maintain library technology
- Maintain and account for library inventory including but not limited to library books.
- Maintain necessary paperwork associated with timelines, instructional progression and assist with preparation of materials
- Supervision duties as assigned
- Assist with parent communication
- Use office equipment as needed to assist teachers in meeting classroom needs

Assist in Administering District Assessments

Manage Student 1-1 Electronic Devices (Check in/out, monitoring/tracking device damage)

Lead and Coordinate Production of Elementary Yearbook
- Assistant will complete any other task assigned by the building principal
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Two years of study at institution of higher education, OR Associate Degree(or higher), OR a formal assessment option as listed for para educators in Title I Section 1119(g)
- Successful experience working with children
- Background and successful demonstration of computer/technology literacy
- Ability to organize and facilitate use of multimedia materials in a variety of formats
- Current CPR – First Aid card preferred
- Clerical/computer skills preferred
- Demonstrate work with children using media and visual arts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working in a school setting
- School Library Media endorsement
Terms of Employment:
- Contract: 192 Days
- Sick time/Personal Days: up to 12 sick days per year and up to 3 personal days per year
- Union Hourly rate enhancement: credit for college degrees or certifications per PSE contract
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance through SEBB*
- Retirement: Two plan choice available with DRS, Plan 2 and 3.
- Paid Holidays: Up to 11 paid holidays each year.
- Maximum wage is based off of 25 years of district experience.
- Schedule: 7 hours per day, 5 days a week
- The current range is based on the 25-26 wage schedule. Once we know the approved 26-27 wage schedule, the posting will be updated.

*Benefits through SEBB is determined by the number of hours an employee is anticipated to work during the school year. Any employee who is scheduled to work 630 hours or more in a school year (September 1 through August 31) is eligible for benefits.
