Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer applies industry best practices to optimize production processes, develop clear work instructions, and ensure repeatability, efficiency, and high product quality. This role is responsible for creating and maintaining procedures that meet diverse customer and regulatory requirements while providing leadership and support to the manufacturing operations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain manufacturing and quality processes for critical applications in demanding environments, including Manufacturing Process Instructions and Quality System Instructions
- Implement and monitor equipment performance, including reviewing and validating IQ reports for new equipment to determine the most suitable options for specific production
- Lead and analyze data & initiatives to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, including the adoption of lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and other best practices. Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement strategies to achieve operational excellence
- Work closely with product development and other cross functional teams to facilitate the smooth transition of new products from design to manufacturing
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and quality assurance, source fixtures, tooling, and equipment required for manufacturing operations
- Provide input on design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for testability (DFT) activities to develop production processes to meet project timelines and objectives
- Develop and maintain simple, easy, and visual standardized work instructions, operating procedures, and training materials for manufacturing personnel in compliance with company best practices, and ISO 13485 / AS9100 standards
- Conduct training sessions to ensure that employees are proficient in executing their roles effectively – Keep training certificates up to date.
- Prepare accurate, well-organized reports on all required forms and records
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards applicable to manufacturing operations
- Implement measures to mitigate risk and promote a safe working environment for all employees
Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in manufacturing engineering role, preferably with an EMS provider
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field is preferred
- Proficiency in using Gerber view software, statistical analysis tools, and manufacturing process software (Aegis)
- Proven leadership acumen with ability to lead with integrity, clear communication, best collaborative practices, and results driven mindset
- Exhibit dependable, high-quality work while operating with minimal supervision
- Commitment to a high level of attention to detail
- Possess strong computer skills across daily tasks and documentation
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and applicable space addendums
- Sustain proficiency in all aspects of electronics assembly techniques, equipment, and processes
- Ability to apply Lean principles and execute 5S methodologies to support operational excellence
- Strong computer skills with MS Office Suite,
- Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident
Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field is preferred
- Intermediate knowledge of the following software: Aegis, Factory Logix, Viewmate Pro, Epicor
- IPC-A-610, J-STD-001 and space addendum certification
- Lean Six Sigma certification
