General Description
The purpose of this position is to keep daily operations flowing smoothly and act as the front-line extension of the Manager’s authority; provide support, direction and assistance to Operators during the shift. The responsibilities of this position are in addition to the accountabilities and responsibilities of the assigned role.
Major Functions:
- Optimize safety/minimize risk
- Lead by example to drive a safety first culture.
- Wear required PPE.
- Adhere to required safety precautions.
- Ensure all safety devices and procedures are utilized for the safe operation of all equipment within the department.
2. Production Support
- Plan, direct and coordinate operations in department.
- Coach, train and support operators using knowledge and expertise of operations within department and keen understanding of surrounding departments.
- Utilize Epicor system and departmental dashboards as required and intended.
- Use Microsoft Office to communicate, plan and manage the work.
- Ensure optimal performance of equipment.
- When performance of equipment is lacking, notifies Manager.
- Enforce adherence to standard operating procedures and standard work for department processes.
- Drive to meet department metrics and production rates.
- Assists employees to meet their individual goals.
- Recommend improvement to process changes.
- Finalizes changes with Manager.
- Lead lean improvements as identified to improve costs and productivity.
- Submit Purchase Orders for approval
3. Managerial Support
- Leads by example.
- Assigns work as required by Manager.
- Coaches operators to increase their effectiveness in role.
- Orients and trains new employees into role requirements, working relationships, and company requirements and culture.
- Recommends improvements to the systems and processes used to deliver outputs.
- Requests additional staff from own manager when needed.
- Enforces Company policies and procedures as intended.
- Supports and provides input to the Performance Evaluation process.
- Flexes schedule as required.
Accountability of Employees
- Use your best efforts and full capability to achieve the outputs assigned.
- When circumstances make it likely that outputs cannot be achieved, or that more could be done, inform your manager in time for adaptive action to be taken.
- Advise your manager when you have ideas you believe might be helpful.
