What are the responsibilities and job description for the Software Engineer Intern position at Electric Era?
Electric Era was founded to revolutionize the world's electric vehicle charging infrastructure. We have developed a high performance and autonomous EV fast charging station that can be deployed anywhere on the grid to provide the necessary charging infrastructure needed for the affordable and timely electrification of transportation.
Software Engineering Intern:
Electric Era’s software team redefines “full-stack” - we write everything from low-level firmware to cloud-hosted backend software to factory test infrastructure to artificial intelligence and simulation tooling. We believe in first-principles engineering with rapid iteration towards success.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to join us in this mission, take ownership of a variety of components of the Electric Era software stack, and execute from ideation to in-field operation. You will embed directly with the team. Your contributions will be critical to the long-term success of the company; we do not have time for pointless "intern projects".
An internship with us is not a cakewalk, but at the end of it, you will have learned deeply about software development, product development, and how to be an adaptable engineer in today's ever-changing world. There is no better place than here to develop these types of skills.
We have availability to support 3-4 month internships any time between January and September of 2026.
Responsibilities:
- You will work with your mentor on end-to-end development of a sub-component of our current- or next-gen product architecture
- You will learn an incredible amount about not just how production software works, but how it fits into the broader business, and how it impacts real drivers and customers
- You will develop and deploy real software in a production setting
- You will collaborate with our software and hardware partners to ensure optimal system-level design for mission-critical problems for the company
- You will be responsible for operational success of the software you write, in real world environments
- You will have a direct impact on our company’s success in making EV fast charging ubiquitous and affordable
Qualifications & Preferred Skills:
- Rising Sophomore or above with 3.5 GPA in Computer Science or related course of study
- Strong personal project portfolio demonstrating academic and practical capability (team experience such as FSAE is highly valued)
- Development experience in one or more of these languages: C, C , Go, or TypeScript
- Capability to support operations that occur in the field outside of business hours
- Previous internship, research, or other business experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
Salary : $30 - $35
