Responsibilities:
- Inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with company, state and federal safety policies and regulations.
- Perform safety audits and provide reports. Serve as a catalyst to ensure compliance.
- Develop and promote a culture that delivers safe workers and a safe work place.
- Implement accident prevention activities as directed or needed.
- Act as the technical resource in respective Operating area for HSE and DOT related issues.
- Conduct safety orientation and training in a timely, professional manner. Deliver quality presentations.
- Conduct accident investigations on time.
- Assist in injury/illness case management to limit OSHA recordability.
- Make internal and external customer service a top priority.
- Assist Operating area management in executing safety responsibilities and in making safety efforts successful.
- Provide positive, proactive leadership by example.
- Recommend safety improvement/accident prevention methods.
- Work with Operating area management to integrate HSE into daily work procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by the Safety Manager and Safety Director.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree in one or more of the following fields: Occupational Health & Safety, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Public Health Sciences, Environmental Science.
- Prior construction or direct safety-related experience preferred.
- Existing safety accreditation preferred.
- Construction experience will be considered in addition to any existing accreditation.
- Current valid driver’s license. Must be able to meet the Company’s driving standards.
- Able to travel up to 80% of time worked, including potential overtime and weekends.
- Strong supervisory/management skills, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Good time management skills, ability to manage multiple projects at once.
- Ability to be hands-on, comfortable speaking and presenting to groups.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
- Must be able to work independently as well as on a team.
- Must be able to obtain the Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) certification within 4 years from hire date.
- Regulatory Compliance - Understanding OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, DOT, EPA, and other applicable standards.
- Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis - Skilled in conducting investigations and identifying contributing factors.
- Emergency Response Planning - Knowledge of ERP design and communication best practices.
- Data Management & Reporting - Competent in the use of digital tools such as Microsoft 365 or Power BI.
Salary : $75,000 - $85,000
