A bartender mixes and serves alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks along with food to patrons of the bar by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Bar or Restaurant Manager.
a. Ensure security and confidentiality of guest and hotel information.
b. Suggestively sell menu items, beverages, and wines.
c. Work without direct supervision.
d. Promote specials and maintain complete knowledge of:
e. All liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available
f. Characteristics and descriptions of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list
g. Designated glassware and garnish for drinks
h. All bar menu items, preparation, method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentations and prices
i. Bar layouts, table/seat/station numbers, proper table set up, room capacity, hours of operation, and price range.

k. Correct maintenance and use of equipment
l. All department policies
m. Daily specials, 86’d items
n. Hotel services/feature and local attractions/activities
o. Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated people, and legal serving times.
p. Monitor problems with intoxicated guests and/or altercations and relay to the manager on duty.
q. Check the storage area for proper supplies, organization, and cleanliness. Correct any problems.
r. Check quality and amounts of garnishes ensuring quality.
s. Check bar set ups for cleanliness, neatness, and agreement to departmental standards.
t. Check all aspects of the bar environment ensuring compliance with standards of cleanliness and order.
u. Adhere to grooming and attire policy as stated in the employee manual
v. Ensure that the bar is properly stocked prior to shift beginning.
w. Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. Always promote positive guest relations.
x. Monitor guest complaints and notify management of any situations ensuring guest satisfaction.
