Position Overview
The Technical Account Manager is responsible for managing key customer accounts, driving customer satisfaction, and fostering sales growth through innovative strategies and technical expertise on current and new accounts. This role is ideal for candidates with a background in environmental consulting, regulatory compliance, and fieldwork—including groundwater and soil sampling, onsite management, and data analysis—who are eager to apply their skills in new and impactful ways within the fields of waste management, sustainability, and circularity. The successful candidate will be apart of the sales team and collaborate closely with Technical Service, Field Services, and Operations teams to expand service offerings while ensuring all work complies with regulatory standards. While primarily office-based at our West Chester, PA location, occasional travel may be required, mostly within a 2-hour radius, with minimal overnights expected.
Key Responsibilities
Proposal Development & Reporting
- Prepare and submit detailed proposals, contracts, and presentations for customers, ensuring alignment with the scope of work, pricing structures, and regulatory standards
- Compile and manage documentation, including vendor invoices, waste reports, and other project-related materials
- Oversee the timely submission of invoices, manage aged receivables, and ensure prompt payments
- Research appropriate methods of waste management required for client needs such as reuse, treatment, recycling, energy recovery, landfill, incineration, etc.
Customer Account Management
- Assist customers in understanding technical service options and navigating regulatory requirements
- Maintain regular communication with clients to assess needs, resolve issues, and provide service updates
- Manage a diverse portfolio of customers, ensuring high levels of service, satisfaction, and retention
- Develop and implement tailored waste management strategies and sales plans to meet customer needs and expand service offerings
Field Experience Application
- Facilitate onsite project execution, providing technical oversight as needed
- Utilize fieldwork experience, including groundwater and soil sampling, onsite management, and data analysis, to support customer accounts and inform project strategies
- Collaborate with the Operations team to ensure field data enhances service offerings and improves client solutions
Regulatory Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all work complies with environmental, health, and safety standards, and identify any unsafe conditions or procedures
- Stay current on local, state, and federal regulations related to environmental remediation and waste management services
Sales Growth & Strategy Development
- Identify market trends and new service opportunities, driving business development
- Collaborate with the Sales Manager to achieve individual sales goals and contribute to the company's service portfolio growth
- Continually seek opportunities to expand business with existing clients and cultivate new customer relationships
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- 3-5 years of experience in environmental consulting, fieldwork (groundwater/soil sampling, data management), and regulatory compliance
- Strong understanding of environmental remediation, waste management, and regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to manage and grow client relationships
- Proficiency in preparing technical proposals and reports, with strong attention to detail in pricing and project documentation using computer-based software (e.g., Microsoft Office)
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with diverse clients
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying new business opportunities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in client or account management, especially within the waste management or environmental services industries
- Familiarity with project management, billing processes, and sales pipeline forecasting
- Knowledge of transportation logistics and brokerage services is a plus
