Elder’s Hardware in Dunlap, TN is seeking an experienced and motivated Lumber Manager to oversee daily operations of our lumber and building materials department. This role is responsible for inventory management, customer service, vendor coordination, and team leadership to ensure a well-stocked and efficiently run department.
Position Information
Responsibilities include:
- Order lumber and building materials to maintain consistent stock levels, inspect materials orders to verify accuracy and quality and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage inventory levels, product placement, and merchandising within the department.
- Build rapport with customers, contractors, and current/future vendors and provide excellent customer service assisting with product selection and project needs.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selection and project needs.
- Interpret building plans and assist with material takeoffs as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adapt to changing priorities to ensure high standard of service and timely deliveries
- Assist in day-to-day store operations (general maintenance, freight, assisting customers on the sales floor, and any other tasks assigned by store leadership).
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education a plus.
- Experience in Lumber and Building Material Industry managing orders and inventory.
- Ability to read building plans and experience preparing material takeoffs is a plus.
- Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Regularly display Elder's 6 E's with our customers: Ethics, Enthusiasm, Engagement, Empathy, Etiquette, and Efficiency.
- Experience with CRM and ERP software and Microsoft Office.
- Available to work some weekends and evenings
- Physical requirements: standing or fast-paced walking throughout the shift, lifting up to 80lbs, bending, pushing/pulling, breaking down boxes, climbing ladder, etc. Drive forklift
