The Paralegal Assistant provides crucial administrative and legal support to attorneys by assisting with case preparation, legal research, document management, and client communication. They contribute to the smooth operation of the legal office and help ensure deadlines are met, while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Legal Research & Documentation:
- Conduct research on legal precedents, statutes, regulations, and case law.
- Assist in preparing legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, discovery responses, and court filings.
- Prepare and organize case files for hearings, trials, and meetings.
- Client Interaction & Communication:
- Communicate with clients to gather information, schedule meetings, and follow up on case progress.
- Assist in preparing client correspondence and legal notices.
- Maintain confidential client files and ensure they are up-to-date.
- Case Management & Support:
- Organize and track deadlines, court dates, and case schedules.
- Assist in preparing evidence for court hearings, trials, and depositions.
- Manage document discovery and review for relevant information.
- Administrative Tasks:
- Handle general administrative duties such as answering phones, managing calendars, and filing documents.
- Prepare and maintain accurate records of case progress, court appearances, and legal filings.
- Draft basic legal documents, such as non-disclosure agreements, letters of intent, and affidavits.
- Court Filings & Compliance:
- Assist in filing legal documents with courts, administrative agencies, and other legal entities.
- Ensure that all documents comply with legal standards and court requirements.
- Other Tasks as Needed:
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation and strategy sessions.
- Maintain a well-organized and efficient office, ensuring all legal files and documents are easily accessible.
- Education & Experience:
- A high school diploma is required; a Paralegal Certificate or Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies is preferred.
- Previous experience as a paralegal assistant, legal secretary, or in a legal office setting is a plus.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documents.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
