 Completes nutritional assessment and coordinates the clinical aspects of the Dietary Department to provide optimal nutritional care to the residents.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Performs nutritional assessments.
  2. Obtains food, fluid and snack preferences from resident and/or resident representative as able.
  3. Provides foods and fluids that accommodates residents allergies, intolanances and preferences.
  4. Develops nutritional care plans for residents.
  5. Counsels residents and/or resident representative concerning regular and/or therapeutic diets.
  6. Completes necessary documentation in the resident’s medical record appropriately and in a timely manner.
  7. Maintains compliance with standards of regulatory agencies in the clinical area of dietetics.
  8. Participates in Interdisciplinary conferences as needed.
  9. Completes required documentation for care plan conferences on a timely basis.
  10. Assists Clinical Dietitian Supervisor in planning therapeutic menus.
  11. Conducts staff training on therapeutic diets and related areas with staff members.
  12. Participates in performing audits as directed by Clinical Dietary Supervisor.
  13. Reviews nursing daily report for assigned units.  Completes required documentation per policy.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be reliable and responsible, conforming to established work hours and maintaining an acceptable work attendance record.

Ability to work cooperatively with others.

 

Initiative, judgement, and decision-making ability.

 

Must be able to function independently.

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from an accredited college or university.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 

 

Ability to write reports in medical records and business correspondence. 

 

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals as needed in completing accurate nutritional assessments.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

 

CERTIFICATE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) by the State of Pennsylvania
