SUMMARY:  Assists in preparation and service of food, proper sanitation and storage of food and non-food supplies.  Dietary Aides are scheduled in a variety of job assignments.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Serves residents in dining room appropriate meals by:
      1. Utilizing Selective Menu sheets as a guide to a resident’s dietary restrictions   and preferences. 
      2. Refers to posted production sheets for menu items to be served to special     diets.

 

  1. Take food carts to and from nursing units.

 

  1. Serve meals to residents dining on nursing units through specific position on tray line.

 

  1. Assembles Kosher Meals on Wheels.

 

  1. Stores food and non-food supply in a sanitary manner by: 
      1. Maintains all storage areas in a neat and organized manner.
      2. Proper utilization of a cover, label, and date.

 

 

  1. Breakdown and reset of dining room following proper procedures.

 

  1. Performs assigned cleaning duties by:
      1. Following the posted schedule.
      2. Follows appropriate cleaning procedures as directed by supervisor.
      3. Cleans and washes all dishes, pots and silverware according to appropriate     sanitary guidelines.
      4. Cleans and sanitizes food carts after they are retrieved from nursing units.

 

  1. Fills nourishment requisitions.

 

  1. Assists in food preparation by:
      1. Preparing all raw vegetables and fruits.
      2. Some baking cookies and other baked products
      3. Assists in the preparation and service of special functions.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be reliable and responsible, conforming to established work hours and maintaining an acceptable work attendance record.

 

Ability to work cooperatively with others.

 

Has good interpersonal skills, treats residents, families/visitors, and coworkers with courtesy.

 

Positive attitude.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); preferred but not required

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.


Ability to follow both oral and written directions.

 

MATHEMATICAL:

Basic understanding of mathematical skills including addition and subtraction.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme colds and chemicals used in sanitation.

 

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
