El Valle De La Sultana Market is seeking an experienced Head of Human Resources to lead and manage all HR functions across our four grocery store locations. This role is responsible for developing HR strategy, ensuring compliance with labor laws, supporting management, and building strong employee relations to support the company's growth and operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesHuman Resources Leadership
- Lead and oversee all HR operations for multiple store locations
- Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks
- Serve as a strategic partner to ownership and senior management
Recruitment & Staffing
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for store-level and management positions
- Support hiring managers with interviewing, onboarding, and training processes
- Develop staffing plans to meet operational needs across all locations
Employee Relations
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues
- Conduct investigations related to performance, misconduct, and policy violations
- Provide guidance to managers on disciplinary actions, terminations, and documentation
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (including wage & hour, OSHA, and workplace safety)
- Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation
- Oversee workers' compensation claims, incident reporting, and leave management
Performance Management & Development
- Develop performance review processes and corrective action procedures
- Support leadership development and manager training
- Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with company values
Payroll & Benefits Coordination
- Work closely with payroll providers to ensure accurate payroll processing
- Administer employee benefits, including health insurance, time-off policies, and leave programs
- Address employee questions related to pay, benefits, and policies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred)
- 5 years of HR experience, preferably in retail, grocery, or multi-location environments
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Experience handling employee relations, investigations, and compliance matters
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Experience with HRIS, payroll systems, and reporting tools
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, Portuguese is beneficial
