The Opportunity
You will lead the end-to-end mechanical estimation process with complete autonomy to analyze complex projects and protect profit margins. You will leverage your field-based understanding of mechanical systems to build accurate and competitive bids without being micro-managed. You will play a pivotal role in identifying project risks and driving contract acquisitions across commercial and industrial sectors.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Review building plans, drawings, and engineering specifications to establish accurate project scopes.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs across commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, piping, and ductwork systems.
- Calculate comprehensive labor hours, equipment requirements, and total material costs for each project.
- Solicit, evaluate, and compare subcontractor quotations and manufacturer material pricing.
- Identify potential constructability risks and propose value engineering solutions during pre-bid analysis.
- Prepare and submit complete, accurate, and highly competitive final mechanical bid packages.
- Coordinate seamlessly with project management teams to hand over awarded contracts for field execution.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Proven track record in preparing complete mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and piping estimates from concept to final bid.
- Strong practical understanding of field installation practices and mechanical construction workflows.
- Demonstrated experience evaluating subcontractor bids, analyzing risk, and performing material price comparisons.
- Proficiency in reading complex engineering blueprints, schematics, and project specifications.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- 6 years of related mechanical estimating and project management experience.
- Deep technical expertise in commercial and industrial HVAC, process piping, and ductwork systems.
- Experience working with prevailing wage projects, government contracts, or large-scale industrial sites.
