The Opportunity
You will take ownership of the bidding process to build accurate and competitive proposals that protect project profit margins. You will work independently to evaluate commercial blueprints, perform comprehensive takeoffs, and negotiate key contract details without being micro-managed. You will have the platform to secure high-value commercial contracts and directly influence the financial growth of the company.
How You Will Make an Impact
- Read and interpret commercial blueprints, isometric drawings, and technical specifications to build precise bid models.
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for DWV systems, potable water pipes, gas lines, and plumbing fixtures.
- Calculate total project costs including materials, equipment, subcontractor fees, permits, and labor hours.
- Request and evaluate quotes from manufacturers and material suppliers to secure optimal component pricing.
- Prepare and submit formal project proposals while meeting strict bid deadlines and negotiating terms with general contractors.
- Transfer awarded project packages to project managers and field superintendents with clear scopes of work.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Active Texas Plumbing License.
- Proven experience reading commercial blueprints, isometric drawings, and technical plumbing specifications.
- Demonstrated expertise in performing accurate quantity takeoffs for large-scale DWV, water, and gas installations.
- Strong background in cost estimation, vendor price negotiations, and formal proposal development.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience
- 6 years of related experience in commercial plumbing estimation and project management.
- Comprehensive understanding of labor productivity rates, overhead calculations, and commercial permitting processes.
- Strong network of regional material suppliers and general contractor contacts across Texas.
