Job Purpose
Responsibleforsafeandefficientoperationandmaintenanceofvariouspumps,motors,boilers, turbines, generators, and related activities as deemed necessary by the Shift Supervisor.
Education And/Or Special Training
- HighSchoolDiplomaorequivalent;oranequivalentcombinationoftrainingand experience.
- SuccessfulcompletionofanapprovedPowerPlantOperatorApprenticeshipProgramoran equivalent training program.
- Two(2)years’experienceasapowerplantoperator,withemphasisonconventionalsteam generating units and gas turbine-combined cycle units.
- ExperienceasElectrician,MechanicorO&Mtechnician preferred.
- MustpassaHumanPerformanceEvaluation (HPE).
- Routinelymonitorsandlogsplantequipmentindicatorstoensuresafe,effective operation.
- PerformsminormaintenanceusingbasichandtoolsandsupportsCraftspersonnelduring outages and planned maintenance activities.
- Opens,closes,and/oradjustsvalvesandpowersup equipment.
- Monitorsequipmentmotors,pumps,coolingtowers,acidandphosphatefeeder,fueloiltanks, water wells, reverse osmosis systems, and other equipment by way of control systems and sensory observation.
- Operateschlorine,acid,phosphate,fueloil,condenser,waterwell,citywatermakeup,water, treatment, and other plant equipment in accordance with safe operating practices.
- AssistsandmaintainscommunicationwiththeControlRoomOperatortoensurethatprocesses are carried out correctly and efficiently.
- Wearsprotectiveclothingandsafetyequipmentasrequiredinperformingjob functions.
- Interpretsandadherestotechnicalmanualproceduresand practices.
- Continuouslytrainstoassureaneffectiveandefficientoperationofequipmentand functions.
- AdherestotheCompany’ssafetypoliciesand procedures.
- Mustpossessavaliddriver’slicenseandbeincompliancewithElPasoElectric Company’s
- Complieswithallapplicable Companypolicies,procedures,andcodeofethicsaswellasall applicable governmental laws and regulations to include employment, safety, and environmental standards and regulations.
