Job Summary
The Rite of Passage Short-Term Residential Therapy Program sites have enabled thousands of at-risk youth to move beyond their troubled home lives and negative former school experiences. Providing dramatic behavioral and lifestyle changes, the Rite of Passage treatment programs provide a unique, proactive setting for education. EDCOE provides educational services at the facilities. The position will require travel. Sites are located in San Andreas, CA, Minden, NV, and Placerville, CA. Under the supervision of the director/principal, provide special ed case management, conduct IEP meetings, support instructional staff with strategies for special ed students, and provide instructional services to students related to applied curriculum. Ability to perform duties as an IEP case manager and knowledge of how to provide appropriate, evidence-based support to students with IEPs. Emphasize a hands-on and skills approach that supports the vocational programs and ties directly into the curriculum delivered in other subject areas so that there is consistent concept and skill reinforcement. The student population is composed of general education students as well as students who receive special education-related services.

- Bachelor’s degree and a valid California teaching credential, or eligibility for appropriate credentials/permits. Either a Mild to Moderate Education Specialist and a Single Subject Credential or a Mild to Moderate Education Specialist and Multiple Subject Credential is required. Experience:
- Successful experience in classroom teaching; demonstrated success in teaching at risk students, including appropriate curriculum design, lesson planning, and Clinical Teaching. EDCOE will offer the following bonus or credential reimbursement as follows: 1. EDCOE shall offer two separate, one-time, $5,000 installments after the eligible employees’ first and second year(s) of employment with EDCOE, not to exceed $10,000 per eligible employee (“signing bonus”). 2. An employee is eligible for the signing bonus if the employee is not currently an EDCOE employee and is hired as a teacher to a position in Rite of Passage requiring either a mild to moderate or moderate to severe special education credential Employees who do not successfully complete their first year and/or their second year are not eligible for the bonus.
