Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring the El Dorado Correctional Facility meets or exceeds all sanitation, safety and fire regulations that are applicable to the facility during normal and emergency operations. The incumbent is responsible to conduct thorough, technical and comprehensive fire safety, health/sanitation and industrial safety inspections, enforcement and consultative services. Additionally, the incumbent prepares reports of findings of all areas at the El Dorado Correctional Facility for compliance following KSFM, KDHR, KDHE, OSHA and any applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations and standards pertaining to fire safety, health/sanitation and industrial safety through the Policy Compliance Officer to the Warden. The incumbent conducts fire, health/safety and industrial education programs to include training of EDCF basic education classes, EDCF annual education classes and outside agency supervisor’s annual education classes along with other safety education programs. The incumbent also directs hazardous material and waste activities for the control and accountability of all hazardous material and waste profiles.
Qualifications:
Education
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
Licensing & Certification
- Valid Kansas Driver’s License
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years work experience in occupational safety programs. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefer knowledge of the operation and maintenance of various fire apparatus and equipment; knowledge/training of methods of fire prevention, industrial safety and health and sanitation procedures; knowledge of safety and fire rules and regulations; knowledge of laws, rules and regulations pertaining to property.
- Prefer considerable experience in investigating and/or analyzing occupational safety practices or teaching occupational safety courses.
- One year of experience working in a correctional environment.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements
- Applicants will be subject to background check and criminal history investigation; must pass a drug screen and possess a valid Driver’s License.
- Upon offer of employment, the selected candidate must obtain a valid Kansas Certificate of Tax Clearance within 10 days of the job offer. The certificate can be obtained by accessing the Kansas Department of Revenue's website. A Tax Clearance is a comprehensive tax account review to determine and ensure that an individual's account is compliant with all primary Kansas Tax Laws. A Tax Clearance expires every 90 days. If an individual who has been offered employment cannot provide a proof of a tax clearance certificate, the individual will be required to enter into a payment plan with KDOR and remain current on such payment plan make other arrangements with KDOR to achieve the tax clearance required under Executive Order 2004-03.
