Race and Sports Book Writer

Job Summary:

As a Race and Sports Book Writer, you will be responsible for providing outstanding service to guests in the race and sports book area. Your primary duties will involve accepting bets, issuing tickets, and handling cash transactions accurately and efficiently. Additionally, you will keep up to date with the latest sports events and race offerings, ensuring guests have access to accurate information. Responsibilities:

• Accept cash wagers from guests and generate betting tickets following established company procedures.
• Provide friendly and efficient customer service to guests, answering their questions and assisting with betting inquiries.
• Stay informed about current sports events, odds, and race schedules to provide accurate information to guests.
• Process winning wagers and verify and pay out winning tickets promptly and accurately.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the race and sports book area, ensuring a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests.
• Prepare and reconcile cash receipts at the writer-cashier station.
• Count down and submit cash receipts at the end of shifts.
• Handle cash transactions responsibly, adhering to all cash handling policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with other team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations in the race and sports book area.
• Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge of sports betting and industry trends.
• Uphold all regulatory requirements and company policies related to race and sports betting.
• Report any suspicious or fraudulent activities to the appropriate authority promptly.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or management.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Must be 21 years of age to obtain Gaming Registration.
• Pre-employment requirements: drug test screening
• Prior experience in sports betting or a related field is preferred.
• Excellent mathematical and cash handling skills.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests.
• Detail-oriented and able to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of sports events and betting terminology is an advantage.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must adhere to all company policies and regulations.
