Position SummaryThe Development Officer will lead and implement El Centro Hispano’s fundraising, donor engagement, and grant development strategy. This role is responsible for identifying funding opportunities, cultivating relationships with individual donors and community partners, coordinating fundraising campaigns and events, and ensuring effective stewardship and tracking.
The ideal candidate is passionate about community impact and highly organized, with experience in nonprofit fundraising or donor relations.
Key ResponsibilitiesFund Development & Donor Engagement- Develop and implement annual fundraising strategies to meet revenue goals.
- Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, foundation, and corporate donors.
- Manage and grow a portfolio of donors capable of giving $500–$25,000 annually.
- Oversee donor communications, recognition, and impact reporting.
- Plan and execute major fundraising events such as the Día de Los Muertos Gala, Capital Campaign, and other community-based fundraising initiatives.
- Represent El Centro Hispano at events, funder meetings, and civic engagements.
- Build strong relationships with community partners and local stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate donor records in the database and generate reports.
- Prepare donor acknowledgment letters and fundraising materials.
- Track progress toward fundraising goals and report to the Executive Director.
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related field OR equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in fundraising, development, or donor relations (nonprofit preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with donor databases/CRMs (e.g., DonorPerfect, Little Green Light) is a plus.
