We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Shipping Assistant to join our team. The Shipping Assistant will be responsible for providing support to the shipping staff, maintaining inventory of shipping materials, and ensuring accurate documentation of outgoing parcels. The ideal candidate should have previous experience in a factory environment and the ability to operate lift equipment.
Responsibilities:
- Provide assistance to the shipping staff in preparing and packaging outgoing parcels.
- Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies, including boxes, tape, labels, and packing materials.
- Assemble, gather, and document shipping parcels according to established procedures.
- Prepare shipping labels and ensure accurate documentation of parcel contents and destination.
- Organize and manage log books for incoming and outgoing parcels, recording tracking numbers and other relevant information.
- Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and deliveries as needed.
- Inspect outgoing parcels for accuracy and completeness before loading onto delivery vehicles.
- Assist in loading and unloading delivery vehicles as needed.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures when handling and transporting parcels.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the shipping supervisor or manager.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; 1 year of factory related work experience may be accepted in lieu of HSD/GED.
- Ability to qualify on lift equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks.
- Proficiency in reading a tape measure and performing simple math functions.
- Physically able to lift weights up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Working Hours: 1st/2nd shift open
Compensation: $16.00 per hour
