We're looking for an experienced Senior Estimator to become a key member of our preconstruction team.
Position SummaryThe Senior Estimator will be responsible for managing the estimating process from initial plan review through proposal submission. This individual should have strong technical knowledge of structural concrete construction, excellent communication skills, and the ability to develop accurate, competitive estimates while identifying project risks and opportunities.
This position works closely with ownership, project managers, field operations, and clients during the preconstruction process.
Primary Responsibilities- Review architectural, structural, civil, and geotechnical plans and specifications
- Perform detailed quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam Revu
- Prepare complete estimates for:
- Structural foundations
- Hillside foundations
- Basement construction
- Shoring systems
- Caissons
- Retaining walls
- Structural slabs
- Architectural concrete
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
- Develop labor, equipment, and material budgets
- Analyze project risks and recommend value engineering opportunities
- Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional project site visits
- Prepare professional proposals for clients
- Coordinate closely with project management during project turnover
- Help improve estimating procedures and systems as our company continues to grow
- Minimum 10 years of estimating experience in structural concrete, foundations, or heavy civil construction
- Strong understanding of concrete construction methods and sequencing
- Excellent blueprint reading skills
- Experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs
- High level of organization and attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple bids and deadlines
- Experience with Bluebeam Revu
- Experience with Sage 100
- Experience with Procore
- Experience with Excel
- Knowledge of Southern California construction market
- Existing relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
