POSITION: Accounts Payable Specialist

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 4 years or more directly related work experience in accounts payable auditing or Non-Profit or Governmental accounting. Must have experience in implementing Accounting and Purchasing Procedures. Must demonstrate a solid understanding of Excel for data analysis and have experience using MIP software in a professional setting.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounts Payable Specialist oversees the daily operations of the accounts payable (AP) department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of invoices, payments, and expense reports. This role maintains strong vendor relationships, enforces company policies, and supports process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the AP function.
ADDITIONAL STANDARDS:
Knowledge of accounting and purchasing policies and procedures.
Knowledge of automated purchase order and payable systems.
Skill in data entry, recordkeeping, and file maintenance.
Skill in operating business computers and office software programs.
Skill in operating various word-processing, spreadsheets, and database software programs in a Windows environment.
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to prepare complete and accurate accounting reports and statements.
Ability to perform detailed work involving written and numerical data or records of transactions.
Ability to make arithmetic computations and computations rapidly and accurately.
