Job Title: Senior Full Stack Engineer – API & AI ModernizationEmployment Type: W2-Contract role (40 hours per week)Work Authorization: U.S. Citizenship is required due to federal government contract requirements.Work Mode: Onsite in Rockville, MD (primary). Work may also be performed onsite at Washington, DC; New Carrollton, MD; Ogden, UT; or Farmers Branch, TX based on project needs.Place of Performance: Rockville, MD.Travel: Position requires willingness to travel to other U.S. work locations as needed Position Overview:The Senior Full Stack Engineer will serve as a technical lead supporting the Application Programming Interface program. This role involves hands-on API development, modernization of legacy systems, and secure integration of enterprise data sources to support client mission systems. Responsibilities:Design, develop, and maintain secure APIs aligned with enterprise architecture standards.Lead API versioning, governance, and backward compatibility efforts. Integrate modern APIs with legacy systems and data sources. Implement automated testing and CI/CD processes. Support AI-enabled development workflows and secure automation tools. Provide technical guidance to mid-level developers. Document technical designs and support reporting requirements for review. Experience Required: Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer supporting enterprise or federal IT environments. Demonstrated expertise designing and developing REST, GraphQL, and/or gRPC APIs. Strong backend development experience using Java, Python, Node.js, or similar technologies. Experience integrating APIs with legacy systems, including exposure to COBOL-based services or mainframe environments. Proven ability to implement OAuth, JWT, and secure authentication/authorization mechanisms. Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes/OpenShift), and automated testing. Ability to mentor developers and perform code reviews in secure environments. Preferred Skills: Experience supporting federal agency systems. Familiarity with AWS GovCloud or other FedRAMP-authorized environments. Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Prometheus. Prior involvement in modernization or legacy system replacement initiatives. Relevant Certification (Preferred): AWS, Azure, or Java professional certifications. Educational Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
Salary : $100,000 - $130,000
