Job Summary
We at Environmental, Health & Safety Solutions, Inc. (EHSS) currently have an opportunity to expand our team of Safety Professionals. We are looking to support our Client / Partner with a full-time Safety Director / Leader who is seeking a personal and professional challenge and wants to grow within our company.
This position in located in Toledo, Ohio. Potential candidates must reside in the surrounding region or be willing to relocate to the area. Day-to-day support entails working from the Toledo, Ohio, office locations and travel to project sites within the surrounding region.

Our partners include Owners, Construction Management Companies, General Contractors, Specialty Contractors, & Associations that serve a wide range of industries, including Coal, Gas & Nuclear Power Generation, Steel, Chemical, Manufacturing and Oil & Gas.
EHSS’s team of safety professionals represent & serve our partners focusing on driving and/or establishing our clients’ safety vision & culture, while providing leadership & direction to support a workplace that encourages observation, advising, coaching & corrective actions.
We deliver quality & timely subject matter expertise & business support to ensure that a safe, sustainable, efficient, & legally compliant work environment is established & maintained at all times.
Position Requirements:
- Must have valid Driver’s License
- 8-10 Minimum years of Field Safety experience required with 3 years of experience as a Safety Director / Manager in construction or similar fields
- Bachelor’s degree in safety required with equivalent experience/certifications OSHA 510, OSHA 500, CSP, CHST, etc.
- OSHA 10-hour, OSHA 30-hour Certifications (Construction preferred) as well as basic knowledge of OSHA 1910 General Industry and OSHA 1926 Construction Standards
- Must have the ability to successfully analyze minor or complex issues, creatively problem-solve and develop balanced resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Provide Root cause analysis, recommendations, and support the implementation of safety related process improvements as required.
- Excellent communication skills are required. Candidate should speak with poise and confidence, using correct English, with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to train and keep client team members training and certifications current per applicable OSHA, ANSI, etc. requirements.
- Provide an in-field safety presence while demonstrating and effectively communicating the safety expectations of the owner/contractor as well as ensure employee compliance with all federal, state, local, and site-specific safety regulations.
- Strong background or knowledge of trenching and excavation activities a plus.
- Develop site-specific safety plans for clients and ensures compliance with third-party safety pre-qualification sites (e.g. Avetta, ISNetworld)
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a safety management role within a manufacturing setting.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA regulations, and workers' compensation laws.
- Strong skills in training & development, with the ability to effectively communicate safety protocols to diverse audiences.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications in EHS or occupational health are preferred.
- Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail for documentation purposes.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and implement effective safety measures.
- Strong analytical skills for conducting root cause analysis of incidents and developing corrective actions. This role is essential for fostering a safe working environment and ensuring the well-being of our workforce while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
This position is a full-time position with EHSS assisting one of our clients reporting directly to the owner.
