Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Industrial Engineer/CAD Designer to join our innovative manufacturing team. In this role, you will support a complex portfolio of programs to help plan, design, evaluate, and improve the performance of products, equipment, processes, and facilities. This role works directly with production teams in a variety of settings including component and drone manufacturing.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but not limited to the following:
- Analyze plans and CAD files (SolidWorks).
- Proficient with 3D printing.
- Build, calibrate, and repair instruments, machines or test equipment.
- Test and evaluate performance of products, equipment, materials, or systems.
- Estimate costs for building or operating products, equipment, systems and facilities.
- Conduct surveys to collect data on materials, equipment and process conditions and inspect for optimum performance.
- Ensure that construction or manufacturing of equipment or facilities conforms to design specifications and applicable codes.
- Prepare test plans and reports that document project activities and testing results and recommend changes for product and process improvement.
- Set up and maintain project files and records.
- Utilize professional judgment, critical thinking skills and research to improve program processes and resolve issues affecting program performance.
- Provide clear recommendations to Product, Engineering, and Executive teams.
- Demonstrate responsible time management and a willingness to embrace continuous improvement culture.
- Present a positive professional image and facilitate a team-based working environment.
- Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
- Perform other duties assigned (to be less than 10% of the responsibilities listed above).
- Some Travel may be required.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Previous aerospace experience.
- Two to three years relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Skilled in collaborating with matrixed teams.
- Ability to collaborate with production personnel and engineers.
- Strong writing and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent critical thinking skills.
- Strong diligence and maintain high accuracy standards.
- Proficiency with scheduling software and basic marketing tools.
Experience
- Proven experience in industrial engineering or process engineering within a manufacturing facility environment.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, along with experience in CAM programming for machining operations.
- Hands-on knowledge of robotics programming, CNC programming, PLCs, welding techniques, and fabrication processes.
- Familiarity with plastics injection molding processes is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis using tools like Fishbone diagrams or 5 Whys to resolve complex manufacturing issues.
- Experience working with industrial equipment including vision inspection systems and automation tools.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement practices.
- Mechanical knowledge related to assembly lines, tooling design, mechanical engineering principles, and schematics development.
- Understanding of ISO 9001 standards for quality management systems is preferred.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings (GD&T) accurately and apply them effectively in manufacturing settings.
Education and Licenses
Bachelor's degree or Master's degree in industrial engineering or related field such as manufacturing or mechanical engineering.
