Position Overview:
Reporting to the CFO, the Controller position is responsible for providing financial control, reporting, analysis, and oversight for our fiscal operations. Ultimately, the Controller is responsible for providing clear and accurate financial results and analysis of operations to enable upper management to make informed operational and financial decisions, while also ensuring compliance with company and statutory financial guidelines.
Responsibilities
· Prepare, monitor, and analyze quarterly and annual financial and operational reports for the CFO, CEO, upper management, bank and bonding company to support the business decision making process.
· Coordinate with CFO and CEO to design the financial processes/policies and provide advice and counsel to divisional management on the financial impacts of operational decisions.
· Coordinate and manage budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes.
· Perform in-depth analysis of actual costs, investigate discrepancies, and synthesize data from multiple sources to deliver actionable items. Oversee the operations of the 5-member accounting department.
· Manage all aspects of the company's accounting functions including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
· Manage job costing, work in progress (WIP) reporting, and project profitability analysis
· Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations and industry specific reporting standards.
· Oversee payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable regulations and union requirements.
· Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
· Implement and maintain effective financial controls and procedures.
· Monitor cash flow and manage company funds effectively.
· Coordinate annual financial and insurance audits.
· Manage credit facility and compliance with debt covenants.
· Implement and manage new accounting and other software systems.
· Prepare and/or review bank, credit card, and cash reconciliations.
· Lead accounting team and support the team in prioritizing tasks.
· Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
· Provide mentorship to accounting staff to help them reach their potential.
Experience/Education
· Bachelor’s degree: in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
· Experience: 7-10 years of experience, preferably in the construction industry.
· Preferred Training/Certifications: CPA or MBA with emphasis in Finance/Accounting.
· Strong knowledge of financial regulations and accounting principles.
· Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Construction Accounting Software.
· Experience implementing new accounting and operational software.
· Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
· Strong organizational and time management abilities.
· Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop finance team.
· Good communication and organization skills.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Professional demeanor and ability to articulate and defend financial results to CFO, CEO, and upper management.
· Ability to efficiently communicate with business partners, supervisors/managers, peers, or staff in verbal or written form.

· Salary: $130,000-$160,000 depending on experience
