Overview
Our firm is looking for a civil litigation attorney. We are primarily a debt collection law firm. Duties and responsibilities include representing clients in court proceedings and negotiations, conducting legal research, drafting and reviewing legal documents including pleadings, motions, and contracts.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research using tools such as Westlaw to support case strategies and legal opinions.
- Draft and review legal documents including contracts, pleadings, briefs, and memoranda with precision and clarity.
- Assist in preparing for trials, hearings, and negotiations by organizing case files and evidence.
- Support attorneys in managing client communications and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Participate in negotiations on behalf of clients to achieve favorable outcomes.
- Maintain meticulous records of case progress, correspondence, and research activities within the law office management system.
Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in Louisiana.
- 1 to 3 years experience in legal practice; strong research and writing skills are essential.
- Familiarity with legal research platforms such as Westlaw and LexisNexis.
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on clear legal drafting.
- Experience in practicing in civil litigation.
