We are recruiting for a Special Education Paraeducator to serve Kalama Elementary. This position is 13 hours per week (6.5 hours on Tuesday and 6.5 hours on Thursday), school year schedule.
Regular attendance required: This role relies on regular and reliable attendance to ensure consistency for our students and help support a positive, productive learning environment. The hours of this position are 13 hours per week, school year schedule, and regular attendance during those hours are expected.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Essential Functions:
- Assist the Special Education Teacher, consistent with IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson plan preparation; one-on-one & small group instruction; classroom management; student observation & assessment; communication with parents and staff, in a variety of school settings.
- Supervise students.
- Collect data and report student progress.
- Maintain accurate data collection records.
- Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
- Provide positive behavior management support, consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
- Attend to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning students & assisting with personal hygiene needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, inservice programs, workshops and seminars.
- Participate as a member of the education team. May attend parent conferences.
- Maintain regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Classroom setting, may move from classroom to classroom to provide services.
- Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students including moving and positioning students and assisting with personal hygiene needs, including but not limited to: tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting.
- Sit, stand, and stoop to attend to student's needs & to provide instruction.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds individually, over 35 pounds with assistance.
- Regular attendance during assigned work schedule.
- Travel within ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
- Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
- Within three years of employment meet Washington State Core Competencies for paraeducators as defined in WAC 392-172A-02090 (f).
