General Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Behavioral Health, the Mental Health Therapist works as part of the treatment team to provide direct counseling and therapeutic support to students.

Salary: Below are the full compensation ranges, which will be determined by experience and licenses held:
  • Mental Health Therapist I: $54,491.31 - $66,286.36 annually / $35.85 - $43.61 hourly
  • Mental Health Therapist II: $59,385.65 - $72,259.89 annually / $39.07 - $47.54 hourly
Assignment: The position will be full-time and work 190 days per year. The person in this role will support students at Ilwaco High School.   

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:
  1. Work with students and their guardians in the development of an individual support plan which is strength based, measurable, and assists students in meeting their goals.
  2. Provide individual, family and group counseling, provide care coordination services as indicated for students in accordance with the individual support plan and evaluation recommendations.
  3. Work in an environment with students with mental health challenges including but not limited to self-injurious behaviors.
  4. Assess for need and submit referrals as clinically indicated for students on caseload.
  5. Administer and assess evidence-based measurement tools to track student improvement, success and readiness for service conclusion.
  6. Maintain complete and timely documentation as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  7. Support and implement ESD 112 agency policies and procedures.
  8. Actively participate as a member of multidisciplinary team including but not limited to guardians and other natural supports, IEP teams, school and district staff, community treatment team members, and other  team members as indicated.
  9. Provide consultation, education and training for staff as directed by the program director or supervisor.
Other Functions:
  1. Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment for students.
  2. Participate in staff and team meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
  3. Maintain knowledge of best practices in the mental health field.
  4. Support extracurricular activities.
  5. Teach group lessons on social skills and conflict resolution.
  6. Coordinate and manage student 504 Plans. 
  7. Other duties as assigned, which may include:

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum  Qualifications:
  1. Master's degree or higher in Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology.
  2. Experience working with social/emotional at-risk youth.
  3. Experience with social/emotional support or therapy.
  4. Hold or ability to obtain a unrestricted Washington license (LMHC/A, LMFT/A, or LICSW/A).
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
  1. Experience and understanding of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), including multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS). 
  2. Experience working in a school setting.
  3. Experience working with Special Education students and/or programs.
  4. Familiar with Washington mental health agencies and resources.
  5. Bilingual.
 

Working Conditions/Employment Requirements

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  1. Travel throughout ESD 112 region.
  2. Variety of settings including students' homes, office and school environment.
  3. Extended or flexible hours as necessary.
Employment Requirements - ESD job offer is contingent upon satisfying the following:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the WA state patrol and FBI.
