We are recruiting for the 25-26 school year. Apply today, train this summer, and start in the fall! General Responsibilities Under the general direction of the Specialized Transportation Director, the Specialized Transportation Van Driver will transport students with disabilities on "to and from school" routes. Students are transported in vans or vehicles that are rated to transport 10 or fewer passengers. Salary: The full hourly range will be $24.64 - $28.36. Offers are made at the entry level of the range. Assignment: This position will be part-time, working 20-25 hours per week. The position is on a school year schedule, there will be no work during school breaks (winter, spring, summer). We are primarily recruiting for work in Klickitat county. Our vehicles are located in White Salmon, WA and Goldendale, WA. We will consider applicants for Clark and Cowlitz counties as needed. Essential Functions/Other Functions Essential Functions:
  1. Operate the ESD 112 vehicle in accordance with the State of Washington laws and ESD and program policies and procedures.
  2. Drive the ESD vehicle on scheduled routes and/or all trips and approved activities.
  3. Establish and maintain effective and cooperative communication with students, parents, school staff, peers, and supervisors.
  4. Inspect, clean, and request maintenance service for the vehicle(s) and related equipment.
  5. Report unsafe acts or conditions which require the attention of any person other than the driver.
  6. Contribute to and cooperate with the classroom instructional team including the teacher, related services staff, other educational assistants.
Other Functions:
  1. Supervise and maintain control of students.
  2. Participate in staff meetings, in service programs, workshops and similar training or program events.
  3. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills Minimum Qualifications:
  1. 21 years of age or older.
  2. Valid driver's license.
  3. Ability to successfully complete state required driver training and to acquire and maintain a valid first aid and CPR card.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Experience working with students with disabilities or unique needs.
  2. Experience in transporting students.
  3. Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
Working Conditions/Employment Requirements Working Conditions:
  1. Operate ESD vehicle under a variety of road conditions.
  2. Physical intervention necessary to properly restrain students in compliance with Washington State WACs and Emergency Response protocol.
  3. Exposure to communicable diseases found in children and adolescents.
  4. Students may use challenging or offensive verbalizations toward staff and other students with potential for escalation to physical aggression.
  5. Sit, stand, stoop to attend to student needs and to provide instruction. Strength and agility to assist in physically maintaining a safe learning environment to include emergency response protocols in compliance with Washington State WACs.
  6. Able to work cooperatively in day treatment program setting.
Employment Requirements:
  1. Successful completion of a criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
  2. Successful completion of Washington school bus driver training.
