State Support Team Region 3 Literacy Consultant
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A master's degree in reading or literacy education, or a master's degree in a related area with either reading or literacy endorsements on a state license.
- Expertise in how to improve student learning through the implementation of high-quality, evidence-based reading/literacy strategies.
- Three to five years of successful classroom teaching, including reading/literacy instruction Pre-K 12 grades
- Provide information and professional development and technical assistance specific to evidence-based language and literacy development.
- Experience with coaching and consulting educators or leaders.
- Experience designing and implementing a district-wide or school-wide integrated multi-tiered system of support.
- Strong interpersonal, presentation, and facilitation skills applicable to a variety of audiences including teachers, administrators, parents, and students.
- Communicate clearly and effectively, fostering open and honest dialogue with a variety of stakeholders, including during difficult conversations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of the Science of Reading modules or any state approved alternative pathway.
RESPONSIBILITIES (including but are not limited to):
- Organize and/or conduct professional learning opportunities and special projects related to literacy/ELA curriculum, instruction and assessment.
- Coach educators to deliver explicit and systematic reading instruction in grades K-12 and intervention and provide and receive effective instructional feedback.
- Coach teachers in administering assessments and measures of essential literacy skills, interpreting results, and using data to drive instruction.
- Provide intensive support, aligned with Ohio's Coaching Model for targeted building(s) through the development of an integrated multi-tiered system of support.
- Collaborate with district leaders to provide system-level support around literacy improvement.
- Demonstrate adaptability and effective problem-solving by acquiring new skills, managing multiple tasks, and developing solutions to achieve goals.
- Other duties as necessary may be assigned.
SALARY: Determined by education and experience
CONTRACT: 205 Days
