Job Title: Girls High School Varsity Basketball Head Coach
Location: Northridge High School, Johnstown, Ohio
Position Type: Coaching/Supplemental
Reports To: Athletic Director
Position Summary
Northridge High School is seeking a dedicated, knowledgeable, and student-centered Girls Varsity Basketball Head Coach to lead and develop a competitive high school basketball program. The ideal candidate will foster athletic excellence, sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal growth among student-athletes.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and conduct all varsity basketball practices, games, and team activities
- Develop and implement offensive and defensive strategies
- Promote a positive team culture emphasizing discipline, respect, and accountability
- Monitor academic progress and support student-athlete success in the classroom
- Supervise and collaborate with assistant coaches and program staff
- Ensure compliance with all Ohio high school athletic association rules and school policies
- Coordinate scheduling, travel, equipment, and program logistics
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, school staff, and administration
- Organize offseason training, conditioning, and skill development opportunities
Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience (high school or higher preferred)
- Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategy, and player development
- Ability to mentor and motivate high school student-athletes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and respectful team environment
Requirements
- Valid Ohio coaching permit or ability to obtain one
- Completion of required certifications (CPR, First Aid, concussion training, etc.)
- Successful background check in accordance with Ohio law
- Availability for practices, games, and team events (including evenings and weekends)
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior head coaching experience
- Experience working within a school-based athletic program
- Background in strength and conditioning or athletic development
Compensation
- Stipend based on experience and district pay scale
