Full-Stack PHP / WordPress Developer (Mobile & AI) – Defense Training (Draper, UT)

We are seeking a talented PHP / WordPress Developer to build and maintain secure, high-performance custom applications that power mission-critical training platforms for military, law enforcement, and industry professionals worldwide.

In this hands-on role, you'll develop robust solutions—including online certification portals, interactive training systems, customer support platforms, and (based on your experience and drive to learn) Android mobile apps and secure, high-trust LLM integrations for advanced automation and AI-enhanced features in compliance-sensitive environments.

You'll work on exciting projects that directly enable operators to master state-of-the-art technology like drones, robots, and aircraft-mounted camera systems—helping ensure everyone comes home safely. In our small, collaborative team, your code makes a real difference. You’ll love coming to work!

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain custom WordPress themes, plugins, and applications using PHP, adhering to WordPress architecture, hooks, filters, and best security practices
• Collaborate with Learning Engineers, Technical Writers, and Subject Matter Experts to implement features for LMS integrations, interactive training modules, and secure data handling
• Perform code reviews, testing, debugging, and QA to ensure high-quality, compliant deliverables
• Contribute to secure integration of advanced features, including AI capabilities using local or secure LLM technologies in high-security environments
• Develop or extend mobile applications for Android using Android Studio and Capacitor (experience required or willingness to learn)
• Participate in project planning, light project management, and creative sessions
  
  
  
  
  

Required

• Proven experience in PHP development with deep understanding of WordPress architecture, hooks, filters, and security best practices (e.g., input validation, nonce usage, secure authentication)
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and related front-end technologies for responsive design
• Experience creating great UI/UX with Esri's Calcite Design System (calcite-design-system)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in small teams
• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and good communication
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar; or equivalent work experience
• Experience or willingness to learn Android mobile app development using Android Studio and Capacitor
• Experience or desire to learn and implement local/secure LLM technologies for AI-enhanced features in compliance-sensitive environments
  
  
  
  
  

Strongly Preferred

• Experience with LMS platforms like LearnDash and Moodle
• Familiarity with xAPI/SCORM technologies such as Grassblade LRS
• Knowledge of data management tools like PODS
• Proficiency with source code control (e.g., AWS CodeCommit or Git) and IDEs like PHPStorm
• Experience with LOCAL or similar environments for testing and debugging

Education Services LLC specializes in creating online and instructor led training programs and custom online training, service, and membership portals. We delight our customers with excellent user experience, service, and engaging learning experiences.

Sometimes we create simple training modules or courses. Most of the time we create full certification training programs consisting of multimedia learning experiences, practice activities, simulations and pseudo-simulations, knowledge checks, and human scored or computer based certification assessments.

We serve customers around the world but since our work includes DoD projects, we only employ U.S. Citizens who can work in-person in our office in Draper, UT.
