Qualifications 

Education/Certification 

  • Master’s Degree required
  • Principal Certification
  • Leadership Experience

Special Knowledge/Skills 

  • Proven ability to lead campus and district leadership teams through systemic school improvement efforts, root-cause analysis, and strategic planning.
  • Strong knowledge of coaching methodologies, specifically through job-embedded professional development, to build the capacity of campus principals.
  • Skilled in facilitating difficult conversations and leading diverse groups through complex problem-solving processes to reach organizational consensus.  
  • Deep knowledge of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), statewide assessment protocols, and the Texas accountability system (A-F ratings).  
  • Strong ability to plan, create resources, and conduct professional development based on client needs.
  • Ability to facilitate difficult conversations and lead groups through the problem-solving process to reach consensus.
  • Ability to research and interpret complex educational policies and translate raw data into actionable insights for school improvement. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; proven ability to deliver effective presentations to diverse groups.
  • Highly organized self-starter able to coordinate complex projects and manage program logistics through proactive problem-solving.
  • Ability to research/interpret complex policies and translate data into actionable insights using advanced software (spreadsheets and word processing).
  • A collaborative team player committed to a positive workplace culture and continuous improvement through Quality Management System (QMS) initiatives.
  • Dedicated to continuous personal and professional growth, including attending required professional development to remain a subject matter expert in the field.

General Responsibilities 

  • Effectively provide coaching and mentorship to campus and district administrators to improve leadership efficacy and operational outcomes. 
  • Lead the regional training and implementation of state-approved appraisal systems (such as T-TESS and T-PESS), ensuring evaluators are calibrated and compliant with state requirements. 
  • Provide direct technical assistance to districts and campuses engaged in school improvement efforts, utilizing data-driven strategies to close achievement gaps. 
  • Design and facilitate high-impact professional development sessions both at the ESC and on-site within districts, tailored to specific campus needs. 
  • Train campus leaders on best practices for teacher development, observation, and feedback cycles to improve classroom instruction. 
  • Proactively stay abreast of current research, emerging trends, and legislative changes in leadership and teacher development to provide cutting-edge guidance to the region.
  • Provide consultative support to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and campus leadership teams to foster "cutting-edge" thinking and modern pedagogical practices.
  • Identify and promote regional best practices and research-based instructional strategies to improve student outcomes across all grade levels.
  • Maintain and foster positive, proactive relationships with customer school districts and leadership teams through consistent communication and support.
  • Communicate and collaborate with regional and statewide partners to represent ESC 12’s interests and contribute to larger educational initiatives.

Security Requirements 

All positions at ESC 12 are defined as security-sensitive. Security-sensitive positions are those which require employees to be entrusted with certain types of data, whether electronic or in paper form. Those data elements, as defined by the ESC 12 Data Classification and Handling Policy may include, but not limited to: 

  • Sensitive Personal Information (SPI)
  • Personally, Identifiable Information (PII)
  • Protected Health Information (PHI)
  • Family Educational Records (FERPA Data)
  • Federal Tax Information (FTI)

 

All employees must adhere to all security-related policies, standards, and procedures. This includes actively safeguarding data and immediately reporting any suspected loss or theft.

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

  • Travel: Frequent Travel within the region, state, and nation when appropriate
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
  • Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
  • Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent regional travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel
  • Mental Demands: 
    • Manage multiple tasks and work cooperatively with others
    • Maintain a calm attitude in demanding situations
    • Make changes and adapt to varying responsibilities on an ongoing basis
    • Work with frequent interruptions, tight deadlines, and limited office space

 

Benefit Information

  • ESC Region 12 provides monetary contribution up to $575 per month to use for employee/family healthcare and supplemental benefits
  • The employee earns state personal, sick and vacation leave
  • All employees contribute to both: Teachers Retirement System (TRS) and Social Security retirements

Salary : $7,328 - $9,133
