What are the responsibilities and job description for the CDL Driver Instructor - FT position at Education Affiliates?
Position Summary:
The CDL Road and Range Instructor assists the Dean, works with faculty to promote continuous improvement of the quality of instruction within the assigned program(s), and ensures that daily program requirements are met.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- As a faculty member, fulfills all the functions and responsibilities of teaching the assigned course load as directed by the Dean.
- Demonstrates excellent teaching qualities and sets a positive example for other faculty regarding appropriate dress, class preparation, punctuality, student assessment, and a student-centered approach to classroom instruction.
- Serves as a subject matter expert for students and instructional staff.
- Prepares students for success and meets the requirements of the Department of Driver Services & FMCSA ELDT regulations.
- Monitors attendance and ensures daily attendance sign-in sheets are accurate and turned in at a timely manner to the Education Manager.
- Assists the Dean with the training and development of faculty
- Monitors range/road equipment and ensures student safety, and immediately documents and reports safety concerns to the Dean and Campus President
- Adheres to and supports school policies and procedures as referenced in the employee handbook, faculty handbook, and catalog.
- Keeps informed of industry changes through participation in industry events and regular involvement in professional organizations.
- Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
- Teaches classroom, range, and road courses as scheduled.
- Meets with/ advises students and inputs comments into Student Driving Records.
Skills/Competencies/Qualifications:
- Documented expertise in academic subject area as demonstrated by data sheets, diplomas, transcripts, and licenses certifications.
- Good Communication skills.
- Ability to provide effective direction and leadership, and work effectively and collaboratively with others.
- Appropriate licenses and/or certifications, depending upon discipline, as per state licensing standards.
- Meets GA DDS requirements as a CDL instructor
- A minimum of 3 years of CDL driving experience

- Possess a Class A CDL license
- Pass a D.O.T. physical
- Pass a Regulated Drug test
- Have an acceptable driving record.
- Obey all traffic laws
- Be compliant with the Hours of Service.

Work Hours: May vary daily, and evening and weekend hours may be required.
