Educare of Omaha, Inc. recognizes that the use of community volunteers and students enriches the learning experiences for children and serves to enhance school-community relations.

 

Educare seeks dedicated volunteers to carry out a variety of duties ranging from assisting in the classroom by observing and assisting teaching staff, working with health and nutrition staff, providing family services in the Family and Community Engagement Department or with administrative services department leaders.

 

 

Steps to Become a Volunteer in Educare of Omaha, Inc.  

 

  1. Complete volunteer application online.
  2. Human Resources will complete a phone screen with the applicant.
  3. Human Resources will schedule an interview with the appropriate leadership team depending on the applicant’s area of interest for volunteer work. 
  4. Onboarding process will be initiated by HR. 
  5. Human Resources will communicate via email with the Family and Community Engagement Coordinator and volunteer applicant of approval or denial of request.
  6. The Volunteer applicant shall not be allowed to volunteer in any capacity until all background checks are satisfied, cleared, and approved by HR followed by Orientation from Professional Development Team. 

 

Screening Procedures for Volunteers in the Classroom 

 

All persons, 19 years of age and older and not coming to volunteer through an organization or 

an internship opportunity, interested in serving as volunteers for Educare of Omaha, Inc., who will have an ongoing volunteer schedule of at least 20 hours per month and will have direct contact with children and who are not current Educare of Omaha, Inc., employees, current students, or parents shall apply through and complete the volunteer application on the website.

 

The application will include, but not be limited to the following:

  1. Name, address, telephone number, email address and current or former place of employment (if any).
  2. Names of at least three references unrelated to the Applicant to be contacted directly by Human Resources. Applicants shall supply a phone number and email address for each reference.
  3. A written authorization to permit Educare of Omaha, Inc., to obtain a criminal background check including Nebraska State Patrol sex offender registry check and check of the Nebraska Child/Adult Abuse and Neglect Registry for purposes of evaluating the Applicant’s ability and fitness to serve as a volunteer in Educare of Omaha, Inc. Applicants will also complete a health screen and physical from the approved vendor identified by Educare of Omaha, Inc. and sign a confidentiality agreement. Educare of Omaha, Inc. will incur the expenses for all in this section.
  4. Complete a report of law enforcement contact that is updated annually or if a volunteer is arrested, issued a citation other than a minor traffic violation, or charged with or convicted of any felony, misdemeanor, or infraction, this must be reported to Human Resources who will then notify childcare licensing.

 

The Volunteer applicant shall not be allowed to volunteer in any capacity until all background checks are satisfied, cleared, and approved by HR.

 

All information, background checks, and reference checks shall be strictly confidential.
