Position Profile:
As a Denture Technician - Models, you will be responsible for fabricating accurate dental models based on patient impressions or digital scans. Your expertise in creating models will play a crucial role in the successful planning and fabrication of dental restorations. Your meticulous attention to detail, technical proficiency, and ability to collaborate with the dental team are essential for delivering high-quality dental models that meet the unique needs of our clients.
Job Duties and Accountabilities:
Denture Technician - Models:
- Fabricate dental models based on patient impressions or digital scans using appropriate materials and techniques.
- Pour dental stone or plaster into impressions, ensure proper setting, and trim excess material to shape and refine the models.
- Mount models on articulators when necessary to evaluate occlusion (bite) and ensure accurate representation of the patient's oral structures.
- Analyze occlusion and make necessary adjustments or modifications to achieve proper alignment and function. Conduct thorough quality control inspections of the models ensure accuracy.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the dental team, discussing cases, exchanging information, and ensuring a seamless workflow.
- Adhere to established protocols, guidelines, and safety standards in the dental laboratory, including infection control procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain and calibrate dental laboratory equipment used in model fabrication, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
- Stay updated with advancements in dental technology, materials, and techniques through continuing education and professional development opportunities.
- Keep accurate records of work performed and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Denture Technician specializing in models preferred, but not required.
- In-depth knowledge of dental anatomy, occlusion, and model fabrication techniques.
- Proficiency in pouring dental stone or plaster and shaping models to achieve accurate representations of oral structures.
- Familiarity with articulators and the ability to mount models for occlusion analysis.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of quality in all work.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with the dental team.
- Knowledge of dental laboratory procedures, infection control protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Experience/Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.

- Must have a keen eye for precision.
- Prior experience in a dental laboratory or significant industry background is preferred.
Physical and Safety Requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
- Stand or sit for long periods of time.
- Ability to safely operate gas powered heating equipment (Bunsen burner) and high-speed rotary tools (bench lathe, hand grinder).
- Repetitive motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, or fingers.
- Acute visual abilities: Fine visual acuity with the ability to inspect closely or to assemble small parts; color vision; or depth perception and/or field of vision.
- Finger dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
- Ability to convey information to various stakeholders with clarity and effectiveness.
