The Role

We are currently looking for an experienced Energy Marshal to support a major data center project in Texas.

The Energy Marshal will be responsible for overseeing electrical safety and energy control activities across the site, ensuring that electrical systems are safely isolated, energised and operated in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements.

The role will work closely with the construction, commissioning, electrical and operations teams to ensure safe working practices are maintained throughout construction, energisation, testing and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the Energy Marshal / electrical safety representative for the project.
• Oversee safe energisation and de-energisation of electrical systems and equipment.
• Manage and coordinate electrical isolation and LOTO (Lockout/Tagout) activities.
• Review and approve switching procedures, isolation plans and electrical safety documentation.
• Coordinate electrical switching activities with construction and commissioning teams.
• Ensure all electrical work is carried out in accordance with approved procedures and site safety requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of isolations, switching activities and energised systems.
• Support the development and implementation of electrical safety procedures and safe systems of work.
• Review permits, method statements and risk assessments relating to electrical activities.
• Coordinate with authorised electrical personnel, contractors and commissioning teams.
• Participate in electrical safety meetings, toolbox talks and project coordination meetings.
• Support the safe transition of electrical systems from construction through commissioning and into operational status.
• Identify potential electrical safety risks and ensure appropriate controls are implemented.
• Assist with incident investigations and corrective actions where required.
• Ensure electrical boundaries and access controls are clearly established and maintained.
• Work closely with the project leadership team to ensure energy management requirements are understood and followed.

Requirements

• Proven experience in an Energy Marshal, Electrical Safety, Authorised Person or similar role.
• Previous experience working on data center or other mission-critical projects.
• Strong electrical background with experience working around LV, MV and/or HV systems.
• Strong knowledge of LOTO, electrical isolation and safe switching procedures.
• Experience supporting large-scale electrical construction, energisation or commissioning activities.
• Ability to review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams and switching procedures.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety standards and safe systems of work.
• Experience working alongside electrical contractors, commissioning teams and project management.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment and manage multiple activities safely.
• Relevant electrical qualifications, authorisations or safety certifications are highly desirable.

Contract Opportunity

This is a contract opportunity supporting a major data center development in Texas. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining electrical safety throughout the construction, energisation and commissioning phases of the project.

Candidates should have previous experience working within large-scale data centers, mission-critical facilities, power generation or similarly complex electrical environments.
