POSTED ON 10/12/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 2/8/2027

Edison Park Community | Akron, Ohio
Approximately 10–20 hours per week | Flexible Schedule

Looking for a job where you can stay active, work independently, and see the results of your work every day?

Edison Park Community is a locally owned apartment community in Akron looking for a dependable, hard-working General Laborer / Painter to help maintain and improve our properties.

We currently have a significant amount of interior painting work, so we are especially interested in someone who has painting experience and can produce clean, professional-looking results. This is not exclusively a painting position—you'll also assist with apartment turnovers, cleanouts, renovation prep, landscaping, light demolition, and other property improvement projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on work, doesn't mind getting dirty, can work independently, and takes pride in leaving a job looking better than they found it.

What You'll Do

  • Paint walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and other interior surfaces
  • Properly prepare surfaces before painting, including patching small holes, sanding, caulking, and protecting floors and fixtures
  • Cut in cleanly around ceilings, trim, windows, outlets, and other surfaces
  • Roll walls and ceilings and apply additional coats as needed for an even, finished appearance
  • Clean up painting materials and leave work areas neat and presentable
  • Help prepare vacant apartments for new residents
  • Clean out basements, storage areas, garages, and vacant units
  • Remove trash, debris, and unwanted materials
  • Perform light demolition, such as removing cabinets, flooring, drywall, and fixtures
  • Pull weeds and assist with general landscaping
  • Haul materials and supplies between properties
  • Assist maintenance technicians with projects as needed
  • Clean and maintain common areas and exterior grounds
  • Complete miscellaneous repairs and property improvement projects
  • Perform other general labor tasks as assigned

What We're Looking For

  • Painting experience strongly preferred
  • Able to produce neat, consistent painting results without constant supervision
  • Comfortable with basic painting preparation, cutting in, rolling, patching, sanding, and caulking
  • Reliable and consistently shows up on time
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Takes pride in the quality of their work
  • Able to work independently and stay productive with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable performing physical labor throughout the workday
  • Able to lift up to 75 pounds
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Experience with basic hand and power tools is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred

What We Offer

  • Flexible scheduling
  • Consistent part-time hours
  • Plenty of painting and property improvement projects currently available
  • Variety of work—no two days are exactly the same
  • Opportunity to learn additional maintenance and renovation skills
  • Small, locally owned company without corporate bureaucracy
  • Supportive team environment
  • Opportunity for additional responsibility for someone who demonstrates reliability and quality work

Physical Requirements

This position involves frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Applicants should be comfortable safely using ladders, basic hand tools, power tools, and painting equipment.

Some projects may involve working in dusty, dirty, or confined spaces, particularly during apartment cleanouts, basement work, or demolition.

Interested?

If you're dependable, can do a good, clean paint job, enjoy hands-on work, and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves, we'd like to hear from you.

When applying, please tell us about any previous painting, maintenance, construction, remodeling, or property-improvement experience you have.
